Byrne shocker
I'm not easily shocked...but I was reading a Next Men letters page last night...and I was really shocked by something John Byrne said. I can't actually bring myself to repeat it here, it's so bad. It's in the Issue 12 letter column... Wowsers... I mean, I can tell you, but it's really, really bad...

Someone wrote in asking if he'd noticed how many crossovers Marvel and DC do. Byrne says 'that's like asking a woman who has just been gang-raped if she has been having enough sex lately'.
Honest to God, that's what he said.

It was around this time that John went completely off his rocker.
He's never got back on.
It's sad about Byrney. He just didn't realise that his storytelling and art went so badly downhill. One reader even deigned to criticise his art as being sloppy and he launched into a huge tirade. It did get sloppy and it still is - and even his panel-to-panel storytelling went crap.
In the latest issue he's getting all hot and bothered because someone criticised his drawing of a penis in Next Men. John, admit it's rubbish - it looks like a skinless chipolata!!!
In the meantime, I read Alpha Flight issue 1 in my Classic collection last night - god, they don't make them like that any more do they. (Wipes away a tear.)
