Heath

I hear that the Oscar people are thinking of nominating Heath Ledger in the Best Actor category next year...
Oh c'mon now, bollocks...
Since when has a movie like Batman ever been considered in the Oscars.

he is that good, M. This movie is like the grittiest dark noir thriller that just happens to be a comic book movie.

Hmm he might be good - but honestly, T, do movies like this ever get nominated (apart from special effects)?
Or maybe the Oscar is just a special one.
I often wonder about horror movies getting nominated. It's such a shame. I mean, look at Switchblade Romance/Haute Tension - such an amazing film, incredible performances, but it's a slasher movie so it would never get nominated. Personally, I think the actors in that film push themselves far more than people like Gwyneth Paltrow etc.

Oh I agree on Paltrow and most of the time the Oscars are skewed around buzz rather than if the person reallllllllly deserved it. But again that works in Heath's favor for Joker as it's got a tidal wave of buzz, it's a supporting role which is the only acting category that the Academy will go outside the box in nominating (like comedians actually win in this category), and sadly it's posthumous. Hollywood loves honoring those they will never be able to honor again. I think he's got a real shot.
